David, a retiree from New Port Richey, Florida, started experiencing strange symptoms his doctors couldn’t explain, like dizziness and double vision.

He was eventually diagnosed with polycythemia vera (PV), a rare blood cancer that causes his bone marrow to make too many red blood cells, which can lead to life-threatening complications like blood clots.

At first, the 68-year-old felt that his condition shackled his active lifestyle. But David relied on his family, as well as his personal practices of prayer and meditation, to learn how to persevere through his ordeal.
